In March 2014, we began raising laying hens, and went through the rigorous process of becoming Animal Welfare Approved in January 2015. At first, we acquired a small flock of eight hens and a rooster. Since then, we have slowly been accumulating more hens, and would like to expand further. Our current flock consists of Welsummers, Speckled Sussex, Barred Rocks, Easter Eggers, Rhode Island Reds, Black Stars, Marans, and Brahmas. Our diverse flock of happy chickens are pasture raised, eating bugs, worms, grass and weeds. We supplement free ranging with organic feed, along with fruits, veggies, and garden scraps.
We believe the community should have access to local, nutritious produce, eggs, and meat, and know their farmer.
