CSA: Keene Creek Farm

We are proud to extend our farm products to consumers in the form of a CSA (community supported agriculture). For those unfamiliar with this term, a CSA sells shares of farm products (in our case hogs) to consumers in exchange for food. Each shareholder who signs up to receive our pork CSA will receive approximately 10 pounds of pork product a month from our farm. This is a minimum six month commitment.

Basic Pork Bundle: $290 This option features an assorted monthly selection of pork products. You will receive approximately 10 lbs of pork every month for six months (approximately 60 lbs total). Products will include, but are not limited to, loin chops (marinated, straight up or smoked), assorted sausages (bulk, patties, breakfast links), smoked sausages, ham cuts, bacon, ham loaf, roasts and brats.

Holiday Ham: $35 Plan ahead for the holidays and order a smokehouse ham from us (approximately 12 lbs). Order must be placed at the time you sign up for our CSA to guarantee product for Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Summer Grillin’ Special: $66 Our flavorful selection of brats grill up into quick and delicious lunch/dinners, especially in the summer months. Add this option to your CSA and we will guarantee that you will receive at least two packs of brats (Mild Italian, Cheese, or Bratwurst seasoned) every month.

Pizza Mix Share: $6.50 or $7 a month Add our Rustic Herb Pizza Dough Mixes to your pork CSA. This pre-made dry mix makes whipping up a homemade pizza simple and rewarding. White mixes are $6.50/month and whole wheat mixes are $7/month. You will receive two mixes each month. Each mix makes two pizzas. Dry mixes will last for months in the freezer.

Lard Option: $8 You will receive 3 lbs of rendered pork fat. It is excellent for baking pie crusts or frying potatoes. Lard keeps for a long time in the refrigerator/freezer.

Our hogs are pastured when they reach approximately 45 lbs. Even though they are in a pen when they’re little, they are never in confinement and always have room to roam and have their hooves in the dirt. Antibiotics are not administered regularly. We only give medicine if an animal is ill and its livelihood is threatened by the illness.

Customers are responsible for picking up their meat shares at the farm the first Thursday of every month from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Our farm is located just north of Coshocton off of State Route 83 (we are about 4 miles from town). All products will be frozen at the time of pick up and will be in an insulated bag. After the product leaves our farm, it is the shareholders’ responsibility to see that the products are properly stored.

All of the pork we have processed is packaged in vacuum packs. So long as the vacuum around the meat doesn’t break, it will last for a year in a chest freezer.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture has issued a license to us to warehouse pork. However, due to limited space, we are unable hold multiple months worth of shares for you to pick up. Special arrangements can be made to pick up product up to three days after a monthly pick up date. After that, the product becomes property of the farm and can be sold to another customer.
