La Caridad is the joint venture of a Shore native (Stacia) and a Cuban "come-here" (Luis) who share a love of good food, chemical-free farming and heritage breed livestock.
Besides being the name of Luis's beloved grandmother, "la caridad" translates to "charity" in English. So in addition to signifying our ties to family and farming heritage, the name carries the deeper meaning of benevolence. Because until such time as they end up on our plates, we feel that treating our animals with kindness-- through our interactions with them, but also by providing them with sunshine, fresh air and space to roam -- is essential, for our health as well as theirs.
We currently have pastured duck and chicken eggs, and whole rabbit fryers will be available first of September. Email or message us to reserve as it sells out quickly. This summer find us at the Wallops Farmer's Market with vegetables and fresh eggs (chicken and duck). As our farm grows in the next few years we'll be adding pork, lamb and beef.
