Our farm is located in Creston, California, near the city of San Luis Obispo in the Central Coast region of California. We grow organic basil (Italian, lemon, Thai, spicy bush, and more), carrots (rainbow, orange and purple), 8 or 9 types of summer squash, several types of eggplant, radishes, bok choy, tomatoes, and herbs and raise free-range chickens, some of which are heritage breeds, for eggs on about 5 acres of a 10-acre farm. The rest of the property is left in its natural state.
We sell at local farmers markets and to stores and CSAs. In the summer, we have a weekend stand on the farm. Come and enjoy our fresh vegetables as well as some produce from other local, organic farms and handcrafted reusable grocery bags, aprons, napkins and place mats, many made from re-purposed fabrics.
We are proud to teach what we know about farming by hosting internships through the WWOOF-USA organization. We have recently begun to use a solar oven that we built, we dry our clothes on a lovely clothesline, we reuse and recycle as much as possible, and are constantly exploring new ways to reduce use of electricity and gas and conserve the quality of the soil on our farm. We recently installed an owl house, will soon build some bat houses and a mini-habitat for snakes. We are about to install a native plant hedgerow to work further in harmony with nature by bringing more beneficial birds and insects to our farm and restore more of the land to its native state.
