Mattie Rhodes Center is a non-profit organization that offers different services and programming to the community. Clients are mainly Latino background but open to all! One of our great programs is La Chalupa Farmers Market; which provides local and fresh produce (within 250 miles radius distance). We are a neighborhood farmers market that support low-income families and urban agriculture entrepreneurs. Our vendors avoid the usage of any kind of chemicals on their crops, and most of them uses high tunnel techniques.
Within the market, we also offer to the families the "Beans & Greens" program thru Menorah Legacy Foundation; a federal matching- dollar program (for SNAP card users). We strive to build communities by bringing fresh, organic products from KS and MO farmers as well. We offer cheese, milk, vegetables, meats, some fruits from the ends of April till beginnings of Nov.
We have fun and we help the vendors by only charging $3.00 a week. La Chalupa is part of a mexican bingo game, that reflects the image of a woman in a canoe, selling her produce and flowers thru the small rivers to the villagers...hope to see you here!
