For our 2016 season, we are partnering with Civic Works Real Food Farm in Baltimore City to provide customers with a more diverse and reliable array of vegetables. This provides us a little extra insurance against a poor growing season, as well as a wider variety of products.

The CSA season will begin the last week in May and run through the last week in October.

We offer one size of CSA share. Each share will consist of 5-7 items, plus herbs and garlic.

Members also receive a weekly electronic newsletter with recipes and news about the farms every Wednesday afternoon (before Thursday pick-up), as well as a CSA Handbook with logistical information and tips on how to make the most of your CSA membership.

Pick-up is every THURSDAY. Shares will be pre-sorted into boxes for easy pick-up, but members are required to bring their own bag or box to transport their share home.

Each pickup location will have its own window of time during which pickup of CSA shares are allowed. These timeslots are still to be determined. Website will be updated as they are solidified.

Pick-up locations include: South Clifton (Real Food Farm), Baltimore County (Little Gunpowder Farm), Lake Montebello (Mobile Farmers Market), Station North, Charles Village, Roland Springs, Downtown, and Hampton in Towson.

We are pleased to be able to offer multiple optional add-on options this year. All of these options will be available at all pickup locations.

Winter 2016 Share

Every year our farms advertise a Winter CSA separately from our Summer CSA. This year, wed like to offer an option to simply extend your CSA. The Winter 2016 Share will begin two weeks after the end of the CSA (starting around Thanksgiving) and run for six weeks (ending around Christmas). Winter shares will consist of 4-6 items of winter produce typically 2 roots and 2 greens with bonus produce and herbs.

6-week Winter 2016 Share: $90

Little Gunpowder Farm Egg Share

Civic Works Little Gunpowder Farm keeps a flock of just over 100 heritage-breed laying hens. They live on pasture with a mobile coop and electric fence for protection. Being raised on pasture allows them freedom to roam, forage for seeds and insects, and interact as a flock. Additionally, their manure adds fertility to our land as we move the flock around the farm. Our egg share add-on has two options:

One dozen every week: $125 One dozen every other week: $60

Eggs will be delivered to each regular vegetable CSA pickup site. Cartons will have your name on it, so please take only your dozen.

Real Food Farm and Little Gunpowder Farm Grain & Bean Share

Were always looking for ways to diversify our crops and bring more produce variety into our community. For the first time, we are growing dry beans and grains. By purchasing a Grain & Bean Share, youre helping us pilot this new initiative and will share the benefits and rewards of the harvest. Items will include: black eyed peas, tiger eye bush beans, calypso beans, cannellini beans, cattle beans, and nutrient dense short-grain brown rices.

Grain & Bean Share: $50

Expect to see these items in your share near the end of the season but well update you regularly on their progress in the weekly newsletter.

Thread Coffee Share

We are partnering with Thread Coffee again this year to offer a share of locally roasted coffee beans in addition to our produce CSA shares. Each month members will receive a different roast of Thread Coffee introducing you to a variety of flavors. Coffee is available in whole beans or ground and decaf is available upon request. There are two different share options, both of which run for the duration of the CSA season (23 weeks):

8 oz weekly: $165 12 oz monthly: $70

(These prices are the equivalent of just over $10.50 for a 12oz bag of coffee for the monthly share, and just over $7 for a 8oz bag for the weekly share. Thread Coffee typically retails for $14 for a 12oz bag.)

Coffee shares will be available for pick-up at the same location you select for your produce share pick-up.Interested in using your EBT to purchase a coffee share? Send your questions to rffcommunity@civicworks.com.

Baltimore Orchard Project Fruit Share

Over the past few years, Civic Works Baltimore Orchard Project has planted hundreds of fruit trees with community planting partners throughout Baltimore to help address some of Baltimores biggest issues food deserts, vacant lots, the urban heat island effect, and storm water run-off to name a few. BOP is offering a limited number of Fruit Shares to help support our mission and share our hyper-local fruit with the public. Apples and pears are guaranteed, and many other types of fruit (peaches, plums, wine berries) are likely to make an appearance. Sign up and get a taste of the local bounty!

Fruit Share: $48

Purchasing a Fruit Share will guarantee at least 8 fruit pick ups throughout the orchard harvest season (Peak season is from July to October).
