A South Florida version of localharvest.org
localfoodsouthflorida.org has listings for local food sources here in South Florida: community gardens, pastured dairy, egg & meat providers (including raw milk), farm stores & u-pick farms, farmers' markets, fermented foods, a fermenting culture exchange, fish, produce buying clubs, and produce CSAs.
Local food has been exploding here in South Florida, but it has one problem: even people "in the know" often don't know about sources right around them. We aim to change that. localfoodsouthflorida.org is sort of mini localharvest.org; our site being devoted solely to the 7 counties that comprise South Florida:
Indian River (Vero Beach)
St. Lucie (Fort Pierce)
Martin (Stuart)
Palm Beach (Boca Raton)
Broward (Fort Lauderdale)
Miami-Dade (Miami)
Monroe (The Keys)
Our listings focus on nutrient-density first, local second (the two are usually synonymous). The website was begun to help fellow Weston A. Price Foundation followers locate nutrient-dense food that is often hard to find. Then we expanded to additional sources, hoping to bring more people into the nutrient-dense world of food. Like localharvest.org our listings are free and we are always hunting for new vendors dedicated to supplying great ingredients for people to prepare meals at home.
