Wild Greens

Wild Greens is a family-owned business located in White Oak, Stafford County, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We are passionate about nutritious, and naturally grown food. All of our crops are produced from non-GMO seeds sourced from certified seed suppliers and are grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides in controlled indoor environments.

Wild Greens began when founders Batsirai and Petronella moved to Fredericksburg in search of a space to grow wholesome food for their three children. Motivated by the desire to return to more traditional and earth-friendly farming methods, they committed to using organic practices and seeds free from genetic modification. They wanted to avoid methods that can compromise both health and the environment.

After purchasing their farm, the couple began growing microgreens using certified organic seeds and sustainable methods. Today, they sell a wide range of microgreens including broccoli, sunflower, radish, green peas, mustard, beets, arugula, cilantro, dill, and wheatgrass at the Fredericksburg Downtown and Long Family Farmers Markets. Custom orders are always welcome, and their offerings have expanded to include smoothie powders, herbal teas, and seasonings, all crafted from their homegrown produce.

Batsirai and Petronella believe in the power of food as medicine, both for prevention and healing. When he is not growing microgreens, Batsirai works as an Assistant Professor of Oncology, researching risk factors for colorectal cancer and the role of genetic ancestry in disease biology. Together, the couple is working to make nutrient-rich and natural foods more accessible to their community.

Microgreens

Microgreens are young, edible seedlings of vegetables and herbs harvested just after their first true leaves develop. Though tiny in size, they are packed with concentrated nutrients, vibrant flavors, and vivid colors. Research has shown that microgreens can contain up to 40 times more vitamins and antioxidants than their mature counterparts, making them a powerful addition to any meal.
