In September of 1893 three families took part in "The biggest horse race in history", the Oklahoma land run. They claimed land within eight miles of one another. A fourth family settled one year later. These were my four sets of grandparents. The Magee farm begun in 1912 by Nelse and Nona Magee. The land has allways been farmed useing natural metheds, i.e. crop rotation, and green manure. Our main crops are wheat, and alfalfa. Cow peas and sorgam are planted occasionly. This past year we established an apple orchard and grapes. Our livestock include red angus and milking shorthorn cattle. The angus were AI'd with a Devon from a New Zealand "Heritage breed" herd. These cattle have been grass fed only for over one hundred years.
