Here is an example of one harvest for our share holders: Our new size is approximately the size of an apple basket. Collards or Cabbage,1-2 oz each of several herbs, Nasturtium Leaves, carrots with tops, beets with tops, and Swiss chard,6 oz each of 3-6 varieties of greens :Leaf Lettuce, Mesculan Mix, Spinach, Arugula, Kale; three Vidalia onions with green tops, red onions or yellow onions, 2-4 yellow squash, a large zucchini or broccoli, green beans or snap peas, radishes, potatoes in spring, sweet potatoes in fall.Tomatoes, Eggplant, and Green/Red Peppers near end of season. We have found that the demands of preparing food fresh each week can become overwhelming, so we are now offering an every other week approach to our half share memberships, This will provide more opportunities to be successful in your CSA experience. I often explain that there is a learning curve to this type of new lifestyle approach which involves supporting your local farmer, preparing fresh food straight from the ground, and eating a variety of healthy natural foods which have been harvested within minutes or hours of your pick up at the farm.
Some shares will vary as the harvest dictates, but we will add more produce in heavier weeks to compensate for the lighter ones at the beginning of the growing season. We break from June through August as these are the harshest months in Florida to grow and we consider this our time of rest to plan, dream and rejuvinate our spirits for the work ahead.
