We have raised layer hens for several years. I purchase a form of sexlink hens. They lay well for about two years. Then we replace with young ones for the next year. So, we have production all year. They have protection from the weather in a well-built coop. Insulated in the winter, fans in the summer. They have feed and water 24/7. Feed from Waynesburg feed mill 17% they get treats of black oil sunflower seeds and scratch mix as treats. This provides a well-balanced meal with adequate protein for feather growing and egg laying.
