Murphy's Gardens

Murphy's Gardens is a friendly family owned & operated retail garden center featuring a greenhouse/nursery and fresh produce farm conveniently located one mile off of Hwy 20, on the west side of Galena. We strive to offer a unique & diverse selection of plants at reasonable prices. Propagation of most of our plants begins from seed, cutting or division in our 5 greenhouses & numerous field beds. The rest are purchased as "babies" from midwest nurseries and then potted & pampered here on the farm until they are rooted down and ready to find new homes. Our 7 greenhouses are bursting with an amazing selection of plants. We grow hundreds of hardy & hard-to-find perennials (400+ cultivars) a vast variety of ornamental grasses (25+ different hardy grasses in stock), perennial vines, a nice selection of native plants, water plants, flavorful herbs, specialty annuals, premium hanging baskets, container gardens, heirloom tomatoes & a complementary selection of flowering shrubs and dwarf conifers! We stock the reliable, old fashioned favorites and the newest, exciting cultivars. Our selection changes yearly & throughout the season as well. Most off all, we strive to help you find the plants & products that fit your individual needs. To complement our fine selection of plants we offer an eclectic gathering of terra cotta & glazed pottery, birdbaths, birdhouses, one-of-a-kind metal garden sculptures and other garden enhancements to help personalize your landscape. Seeds, tools, fertilizer, soil, gloves & other products we have tested & found to be useful are also offered. Homegrown, chemical free produce, peaches & local apples can be purchased in our shop in August through mid October. Every fall, hundreds of clean, unique gourds, perfect pumpkins, tasty squash, Indian corn, gourd baskets, mums & other fall d�?�©cor items fill our store. We look forward to seeing you!
