Morris County Winter Farmers' Market

Foodshed Alliance Farmers� Access Network teams up Alexander Hamilton Elementary School to bring a WEEKLY winter farmers� market to Morris County. The new weekly Morris County Winter Farmers� Market opens on December 6th at a NEW LOCATION, Alexander Hamilton School. The Foodshed Alliance Farmers� Access Network, Sustainable Morristown and the Alexander Hamilton School are joining forces to continue to develop a local food system, one in which eating locally and seasonally can be your first choice. This �one of a kind� market will feature local foods and goods, all grown, produced and/or raised within a short radius of the area. Eating and shopping locally is now something we can do year round not just during the summer! Executive Director Kendrya Close explains, �We want to provide all residents in the area with a centralized location to obtain fresh, locally-grown and produced, meats, cheeses, breads and produce all grown by our farmers within our foodshed. Doing this the entire year only serves to strengthen our sense of community and continue to foster a locally resilient economy!� Josephine Noone, Principal of the Alexander Hamilton School says �Parents and staff are very excited that the school will host the Sunday winter farmers� market. We are looking forward to cooperating with Foodshed Alliance to benefit the Morristown and Morris Township Communities and support local producers.� The winter market started two years ago and was hosted on a monthly basis at Fosterfield�s Living Historical Farm. We have seen the demand for the market grow as well as the demand from the farmers for a more consistent outlet so we sought out a new location where the market could be conducted on a weekly basis. Vendors will include everything from meat to cheese, produce, honey, prepared foods, baked goods, artisan breads and as much winter produce as our farmers can grow. The Market will run EVERY SUNDAY of the month (except for Easter, 3/27) from 10am-2pm from December through April and will be located in the Alexander Hamilton Elementary School at 24 Mills Street, Morristown.
