Nature By Design

We are a grower/retailer of nursery propagated native trees, shrubs, perennials, and vines, specializing in the indigenous plants of the southern Chesapeake Bay watershed. At our nursery, you will find beautiful ornamental landscape plants, but these plants have additional value as food and habitat for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. We also offer an excellent selection of edible natives, including fruit and nut trees, blueberries, raspberries, and culinary specialties such as native culinary herbs and tubers. We grow more than 90% of the plants available at our nursery, using a sustainably produced, compost-based medium that requires little or no supplemental fertilizer. We use growing media and amendments labeled for organic use only. We do not use pesticides.
