We are a member-owned neighborhood grocery located in Portland's vibrant Alberta Arts district. Although there are great benefits from membership, you dont have to be a member to shop. Everyone is welcome! We offer a wide range of fresh produce, groceries, health and home products, and more. We often have special events, music, and art displays in the store, and youll find a Community Corner with a bulletin board, comfy chairs, and a play area for kids. There are lots of opportunities to get involved, including volunteering in exchange for discounts.

Our mission is to serve as a community resource and provide high quality, healthy, and affordable food to the diverse members of North/Northeast Portland. We emphasize products from local, organic, and socially responsible sources, and work to build connections between our customers and their farmers. Alberta Co-op uses the power of food, something we all share, to bring people together and help strengthen the local economy. We invite you to come by and check out our store!

Alberta Co-op Turns 5!

After beginning as a buyers club in 1997, our store officially opened its doors on July 7th, 2001. Financing and creating the store was possible in great part due to the support of over 200 Founding Members. These members payed $100 each for a five-year membership, many of them well before the store opened. In July, we celebrate our 5th birthday by honoring our Founding Members. Those who renew their membership by the end of July will receive a 10% off coupon to use in the store.
