Heartnuts are a beautiful variety of the Japanese walnut. They are tasty, high in fiber, antioxidants and proteins. We harvest the Heartnuts in October when they fall from the trees. They must then dry until the thick protective husk falls off.
The versatile nutmeats can be eaten raw or used in cooking and baking. They have the pleasing taste of a mild, sweet walnut.
The heartnuts beautiful shells are great for arts and crafts or ornaments, especially for Valentines Day.
