We are the United State's only producer of traditional marine tallow, a preservative and lubricant for leather intended for marine and outdoor use. Our trademark product
is Oarsman Marine Tallow, very popular with traditional rowers.
A tallow-based product recently added is Oarsman's
Hand Salve, developed for persons who do a great deal of literal "hands-on" work.
The tallow is rendered from all-natural, grass-fed beef suet opbtained from Scantic
Valley Farm in Somers, CT. The beeswax used in both the leather and hand salve
products is obtained from Sue Marsh. She and her husband keep bees on their farm in South Windsor, CT. The essential oils used in the various hand salve formulations are obtained from Whole Foods Market in West Hartford, CT.
On the design/build front, we specialize in working with rowers and paddlers who
are having to adjust to reduced stamina and/or the effects of injury, accident, illness
or--not to put too fine a point on it--just getting older. Our designs are tradition-based.
As part of a network of like-minded artisans, if we can't provide you with what you need,
we likely know someone who can.
