Overlook Farm has grass-fed beef, free-range eggs, and pasture-raised pork for you to purchase. Our cows are raised following organic practices without antibiotics or added hormones. Compared to grain-fed beef, grass-fed beef is lower in calories and fat, yet much higher in Omega-3 fatty acids (even as much as wild salmon) and has a healthy ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 fatty acids (a big problem with supermarket meat). It is also much higher in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), proven to build muscle, reduce body fat, and induce an optimum cellular environment for improved health. Grass-fed beef also gives you more vitamins, including three to six times more Vitamin E than grain-fed beef and a number of antioxidants including lutein, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotein. A grass-fed steak has about the same amount of fat as a chicken breast (if you are concerned with fat) and a better Omega-3 profile. It has less cholesterol and 4 times more CLA than chicken. For us, our chicken and ducks welfare is about more than just giving our girls room to roam. It's about doing everything we possibly can to make sure they have happier lives.
