Suri Alpacas, The rare and beautiful alpacas with long, smooth, strong and lustrous locks. Suri fleece is a smooth and lustrous protein fiber made up mostly of Keratin. Even when woven suri has a cool slick hand to it and the sheen or gloss of the fleece shines through. It is best used in products or garments that you want to have a nice drape in. An average suri alpaca will grow locks 5-7 inches in one year. We sheer our alpacas once a year in early spring and it usually takes me until Fall to get the fleeces sorted, washed and carded. Just in time for cozy spinning in the winter months. Raw fleeces are also available if you would like to do your own works on it. I have most colors ranging from white to black.
