Penrod Farms

Penrod Farms is located in the heart of the Gold Rush country of the Sierra Nevadas in Camino, California. We place our hives throughout the Sierra foothills, the Sacramento and Central Valleys, and the California Coast Range in wild and natural settings to collect the best honey California has to offer. Our honey is never heated or filtered. The only things we take out are the bees! Because bees are natural foragers, our varieties change with the seasons and with each year depending on the nectar source. Our beeswax comes only from reclaimed cappings- the small sheet of wax the bees place over each cell when the honey is "ripe" which is carefully cut off in order to expose the honeycomb for extraction. The reclaimed cappings are then put in a solar wax melter and carefully filtered to create clean beeswax for our candles. We specialize in heritage breed and "game" meat animals. Our animals are pasture raised in natural social groups or housed in spacious enclosures that allow natural, full range movement.
