phillyGrown.farm is a unique and innovative take on the urban farming concept. I, the farmer, Jack Linton, reject the notion that farms in urban spaces have to cost millions of dollars to build and are required to patent their intellectual property in order to maintain a distinct and profitable business and use chemical fertilizers and pesticides that damage the environment and reduce the quality of the fresh food that reaches your table. The farm is located in the Feltonville neighborhood of North Philadelphia inside of the old Goldenberg's Peanut Chews factory building. Using state of the art concepts and technologies, phillyGrown.farm is vegan and animal free. The farm has ultra-efficient usage of water, power, and carbon footprint and sets a new standard for food production in the 21st century. The end result is fresh, delicious, organic, nutrient dense produce that travels a minimal distance to your table and has a positive impact on the urban environment and the global ecosystem. As the farmer for phillyGrown.farm, I am really excited to be able to bring you an amazing variety of mushrooms of all shapes, sizes, and colors straight from the farm to your table. The farm itself is an ambitious project, trying to make the farm organic, zero waste, and sustainable, but it is my intent to deliver to you the very best quality fresh produce while hopefully exposing you to new and exciting varieties of gourmet mushrooms. Your membership is very important to the farm because it allows the farm to pay its bills and continue to expand and improve our production methods and sustainability. I've been working very hard to create a system of farming that uses resources extremely efficiently while producing a minimal amount of waste and conforming to highest standards of organic and vegan agriculture. I want the system at the farm to be as sustainable as possible while still providing a connoisseur quality range of products. The CSA program is a year-round opportunity, so you, your family, and friends can begin your membership at anytime, and you can start a new membership once your original one has expired. The membership lasts 6 months, and the mushrooms we grow will vary throughout the seasons so that we use minimal resources in heating and cooling. It also helps to ensure that you don't get a proverbial box-full-of-kale every week since there are varieties of mushrooms from all over the world that grow in everything from tropical climates to popping up through the snow so there is always something in season. I still have lots of available spots for new memberships!
