Peaceful Prairie Ranch is home to award-winning alpacas and merino sheep. We produce the most luxurious natural fibers while enjoying a sustainable farming operation in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Day to day life with alpacas - and a few champion Merino sheep - prove to be an exciting and rewarding lifestyle that keeps us on our toes! Alpaca fleece rivals cashmere as one of the most luxurious natural fibers. Alpaca numbers in the USA are limited, but growing as farms realize that alpacas are a joy to raise! Alpacas are carefree, herd animals, that require very little 'fuss' in day to day operations. Alpacas are shorn once per year in Spring or Summer (depending on where they live) and shear approximately 4-10 lbs. of wonderful usable fiber annually. In 2009 we invited a few award-winning Merino sheep to join us at the ranch. They are from Champion bloodlines, and have exceptional fleece.
