Project GROWS is a non-profit, educational community farm located in the rolling hills of Augusta County, Virginia, on Berry Farm Road. The mission of Project GROWS is to improve the overall health of children and youth in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County through community farming and educational programming that includes hands-on experience, nutrition education, and access to healthy food.
Produce grown by the Project GROWS team will be available to the community through the Project GROWS CSA program, the North Augusta Farmers' Market (Wednesdays) and the Waynesboro Farmers' Market (Saturdays). We also sell our vegetables to area restaurants and donate to the Boys and Girls Club and the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
The Project GROWS farm holds volunteer work parties every Thursday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. (including a 7 p.m.potluck) starting in April 2014 - all are welcome! Work parties are about getting things done on the farm site, but they are also about building community - so please come just to hang out, sit at a table and do homework, participate in the potluck, or to stop in and say hello! Volunteers and visitors will work on various farm projects while learning about sustainable agriculture and organic farming concepts.
