Puffenbarger's Farm natural Angus beef is a healthy and safe choice of Virginia quality beef. The cattle are breed, birthed and finished on our farm. The calves are on mountain pastures with their mothers until they are weaned. Then they graze free range. The cattle are wintered on 100% hay, hay silage and corn silage all from our farm and have access to mountain spring water.
On our farm we use a small amount of grain-feeding in a smart way and are able to produce a quality product while still keeping our cows happy and healthy. Also, the grain helps "finish" and marble the meat that enriches the flavor. We think of grain as a dessert! Because our beeves are primarily grass fed, they are higher in Omega-3 fatty acids which are shown to reduce or prevent cardiac disease. They are not given unnecessary antibiotics, no growth hormones, and no animal by-products. Our Angus beef is best when it reaches about 1000 lbs.
