Our Raised Right pastured hens are able to forage on rotational acreage, providing a variety of grasses and the opportunity to scavenge for insects. This allows them to consume healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and secondary compounds to include antioxidants that benefit both chickens and humans alike!
The rotational foraging process that we use is a regenerative agriculture system. The goal is to improve ecosystem health, farm production, and food system resiliency, by linking soil and livestock management. Our hens and pastures both benefit each other in the following exchange: the hens enrich the soil by controlling insects and weeds without pesticides or chemical fertilizers and by aiding in nutrient replenishment within the pasture, and the pastures benefit the hens by providing a diverse food source and sustainable habitat. In addition to this, we supplement with organic, non-gmo, non-soy and corn-free feed.
Not only do we have happy pastures, we have happy hens and this leads to a better nutrient content for us humans. Eggs from pasture raised hens are found to have a healthier fatty acid and nutrient profile (lower Omega-6, significantly higher Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Carotenoid content, etc.).
Raised Right to be good for our Flock, our Field and our Friends - That's you!
Feel free to message us with questions about how we do things here at Raised Right! We love sharing our reasons behind what we do!
