Red Feather Farm (RFF) is a small, family operated poultry breeding operation. We specialize in rare chicken breeds including heritage and landrace chickens. RFF has dedicated itself to the conservation of these endangered chicken breeds through social awareness and proliferation. We sell day-old heritage chicks and hatching eggs from a select lineup of breeds. The four breeds we work with are the White Chantecler, Black Sumatra, Red Jungle Fowl, and Icelandic landrace (Viking chickens).
One common misconception is that heritage breeds are not profitable chickens. Red Feather Farm hopes to dispel this myth through a selection of breeds designed to appeal to all kinds of poultry keepers. We keep Red Jungle Fowl, one of the original and most rare landrace breeds, to appeal to the conservationist. Our Black Sumatras are kept to attract those who desire beauty and showmanship in a chicken. We're proud to have a flock of Icelandic chickens (Viking chickens), a highly self-sufficient forager and superb layer that caters to those with the homesteader spirt. Lastly, we have White Chanteclers which are a cold-hardly Canadian heritage breed good for both meat and egg production.
What we value above all else (besides heritage breed conservation) is our relationship with our customers. When you do business with Red Feather Farm, you're doing business with ME (Ben) a highly motivated, young farmer. I'm a real person, who genuinely cares about my animals, customers, and the future of agriculture. In an industry dominated by large-scale monocultures, Red Feather Farm stands out as a beacon of genetic diversity. I'm here to assist you in all your poultry related questions and to help you pick the breed that best suits your poultry goals!
