CSA: Redwing Farm

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a subscription agricultural system: members buy “shares” (also known as CSA boxes or subscriptions) early in the season, which helps beginning farmers like us with some of the up-front capital expenses that are critical to ensuring a productive season: seeds, compost, amendments, tools. Throughout the farming season, members receive weekly shares or boxes of fresh vegetables. CSA is a way to invest in your local farmer, and to share in the risks and successes of the farming season. It is also a way to have a real, tangible connection to where your food comes from.

Weekly shares will include delicious, healthy recipes that will be tailored to the veggies offered in each week’s share – each share will include 7-11 types of vegetables, and each week’s offering will be a little different from the last as different types of vegetables come into maturity. Radishes and salad greens in the springtime, tomatoes in the summer, potatoes and winter squash in the fall!

Our CSA season runs from the first week in June through the last week in October. Shares come in two sizes: basic (1-2 people) and family (3-4 people), and are priced at 10% below the retail value for organic produce. At $350 for the basic share and $550 for the family size, this comes to $17.50 or $27.50 per week for a bounty of the freshest organic produce delivered to Oak Harbor for a convenient pick-up. A $50 deposit gets you on the list, and the balance of your payment is due before June 1. Sign up early to ensure your spot!
