Access to seedlings to transplant into my garden that are in better condition than those from the big box stores and locally grown organic produce.

Excellent, healthy produce, chickens, eggs, cheese, butter and more! A chance to support our local economy and not add to environmental pollution through trucking. Wonderful folks gathered in a musical, lively and loving environment. And of course the food is delicious! Gus the Bus was a terrific addition today. Parents and kids loved it.

I love the interaction with the local farmers/producers. Getting to talk with them & also getting ideas on trying some new vegetable & how to fix it is great! You just don't get that from a grocery store, and I want to make sure that by supporting the local farmers we keep this area somewhat rural and we don't grow to look like a metropolitan area!

It is the sense of community which draws me, as well as the produce. It is a place to enjoy friends midst a sensual, extravaganza of sounds, sights, color. What a delight - a happy place to be. And the stall venders are warm, smiling and friendly, adding to the sense of being in a happy, healthy community of folk.

Our market has been around for quite some time. It's a great place to hear local musicians, visit with old friends and get the freshest produce from happy people in an area rich with farmland. We have organic, Mennonite and Latino farmers that sell their produce, plus local crafts people and bakers. They just recently completed a pavillion after years holding the market in the nearby parking garage.

I love that it's all locally grown or made. I cannot even begin to describe how much better the food is than the stuff you can buy in the stores. I love that it's open Tuesdays as well as Saturdays so it's always possible to get fresh fruits, veggies and more. My boys love going to smell the different things and they will try different food because they know where we got it and who we got it from.

Why do I love my farmer's market? The produce is fresh, local, mostly organically grown, of many varieties, delicious. I can find most of our food needs there: eggs, cheese, bread, meat, fruit, veggies, herbs, sweets. And non-food items such as locally made soap, cards, and gifts; and nearly-food items like seedlings for my own garden! The atmosphere is lively and happy under our new pavilion (which my stone-mason husband helped build). When I want a large quantity of tomatoes or onions for salsa-making, I call one or more vendors to see who has boxes of seconds waiting for the right customer. I love knowing the people who grow our food, both at market and around town. My young daughters feel safe at market, and are developing their own relationships with favorite vendors. We are very pleased to be able to support our friends and neighbors in their business ventures at the Harrisonburg Farmer's Market!!

The community atmosphere! I just know that I will bump into a friends, neighbors, or family and have a nice chat while buying some of the best food money can buy. I love to take my son who enjoys seeing friends and having a super snack. Many times there is live music to finish off the morning with, putting a smile on everyone's face as they head home.

Everything from soup to soap, beets to bread, and the vegetable plants have been magnificent. I see all the people I like most there, and all in smiles.
