Our childcare picked berries last year. The children enjoyed picking in the quiet of the morning. It was very nice to be able to have them see where their food comes from and to thento harvest it themselves. Everyone was very friendly and the blueberries had great flavor. We are nearly finished with the berries, each time we cook, juice or serve them they relive the memory of picking their own food. We will be returning this summer. What a great place.

Hidden Treasure of Blue
By: Elizabeth Forbes    (Jul 14, 2008)

What a great treasure we have hidden south of one of the greatest small towns in Michigan. Kendall's Blueberries is just south of Hastings and is truly an outstanding U-pick blueberry gem. The farm is a hidden field surrounded by giant trees in a forest of sunshine and quiet along a dirt road. The berries are easy to pick. You don't have to bring anything other than the money to pay. Buckets are provided for your use, but not to keep. There are bags to take your berries home if you didn't bring any "take home" containers. The payment is on the honor system, which very few places have. When the berries are ready each year, you can receive an email from Lori Kendall making the announcement that the blueberries are ready. Just the peace and tranquility of the area is worth any drive. When you are finished picking, take a trip to the quaint downtown of Hastings and enjoy all that there is to offer. This place is a MUST on your U-pick trips!!
