I agree with all the other reviews - Just Food is a terrific community resource. It's also one of the most mission-driven organizations I've encountered. I asked one of the board members why Just Food works so hard to support the local CSA's, which compete with it for the local/organic market. He said that supporting local producers was an important part of its mission. Wow. This was a real instance of putting your money where your mouth is, a particularly difficult position when your own budget is strained.

I moved to Northfield in September from Louisville -- a city where social justice, agriculture & healthy food are in our history and part of our present action. I never expected to find an equivalent community in a small town, and yet, WE ARE HERE.
This co-op is really a wonderful gift to the Northfield community. My thanks to the founders, the board, our workers, and members. Just Food combines what I found in Louisville at three different stores, two farmers' markets, my CSA, and the work of the local Agricultural Workers' Union.
I ADORE MY CO-OP!!

We love shopping at Just Foods. The staff know my children. The selection is well chosen. We can be in and out with exactly what we need in five minutes. I appreciate their support of local causes and their willingness to work with the students in my school.

I shop at Just Food for the beautiful, fresh produce, much of it locally grown in season; the local eggs and dairy products; the great cheese selection; the grass-fed beef and Callister Farm chicken; and the wonderful breads -- not to mention the made-in-Minnesota tortilla chips, the local, organic frozen foods, and a nice array of other organic/natural/local staples. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. I know my grocery dollars are very well spent here and I always enjoy a visit to the store.

I love shopping here, I love the feeling of connectedness with the earth and the community that I feel (and I love feeling good about the food that I am buying).
Everyone is really friendly, employees and customers alike, and the store staff takes great care in selecting only foods that are good for the earth, sustainable and good for the farmers and producers that make them.

Folks, I have been delivering produce to Just Food Co-op for three years, from a small co-operative of Amish farmers in Wisconsin. I delivered to 10-12 stores on my route in a day, and while I dearly love them all, Just Food stands out in my thoughts. Strider Hammer, the produce manager, is unbelievably knowledgeable and an all-around great person to deal with. The rest of the crew in the produce department are so incredible as well. There is not another produce department that I deal with that is more dedicated to local food and local farmers, and it really shows up on the shelves. The Northfield area is blessed with some great farmers, some great co-op employees, and some great people for setting up and maintaining such a neat store. (And by the way, I'm not in the same position anymore, so have nothing to gain from all this sweet-talking. But I am a member and love Just Food Co-op, so ~ stop in and check them out! )
