The day I discovered Black Hen Farm was the day I started eating eggs again. Concerns over the treatment and fate of chickens had kept me from buying eggs for several years. Even free-range or cage-free chicken eggs come from places whose business is selling eggs, and I couldn't help but wonder what happened to those chickens once they'd passed their egg-laying prime. Now I know the lucky ones are rescued and end up living long and happily at Black Hen Farm, where chickens are Cheryl's passion. Here they're fed nutritious organic food, and they're pampered with lots of love and tender care. It's the chicken equivalent of living at the Ritz. Of course they still lay eggs, but it's in accordance with nature and their own cycles, which is why sometimes eggs from BKF are scare. Cheryl sells the eggs her chickens lay, she doesn't have chickens to sell eggs. For me, these are guilt-free eggs and the only ones I'll ever buy. I'm happy that in buying them I'm helping, at least a little bit, to support the Good Life for the very lucky chickens who end up spending their lives here.

Black Hen Farm's eggs taste great and as a bonus have omega 3s from the flax in their food. They are the only eggs I'll buy because I know the chickens are so well cared for and have happy, full lives (they aren't killed). I like knowing that the egg money goes toward supporting the chickens, these chickens also eat a healthier diet than most people!

Cheryl's girls produce the best tasting eggs. Make sure to reserve ahead of time or she will sell out. The best thing about this is you are supporting animal rescue with your purchase!!!
