Out where the deer and antelope roam, and ditto heads too...comes this far southeast Comal county eatery and wine bar compliments of proprietors Scott Dunlap and Mia Phouvanh. There, this dynamic duo continues to crank out such local favorites ranging from his own Shrimp w/Cheese Grits (a food group all it's own) to one of the best Philly Cheesesteaks south of the Guadalupe. Relaxed and cordial atmosphere, hardly ever too crowded. Ample portions, my wife and I often split the entrees. Good wine list and a few premium beers as well. And don't miss the deserts. There's an ensemble of regulars, where you're greeted by name and invited to engage in friendly verbal combat with the ever-present and quite capable single mom turned waitress, Charity. In conclusion, we can't decide what we like best about the joint, the great food or the good company. Our only complaint is that they're only open 4 days out of the week.

I wish I could brag on this place - honestly...it's the closest "listing" to me on y'all's list. But frankly, there's just not much to offer. The ambiance is so-so, the food is WAY over-priced, and the owners come across as "know-it-alls". This is not based on a one time experience...I was there on 3 occasions, and even attended an event they catered another time, which yet again they charged way too much for the very little received. Ho-hum at best. They do seem to know a fair amount about wine...so I guess if you want to go and pay an outrageous amount out the nose for a very plain fruit and cheese plate, and have a nice glass of over-priced wine, then it could be for you.
