It's got everything from goat meat to glutenfree bakery products! I have friends who sell their loom woven hats and scarves there...plus it' in a great neighborhood (lower Old Ballard) where you can go to a Pub and Grub for lunch afterwards...that atmosphere is supberb...only problem is parking is hard to find, it's SO POPULAR!

The Ballard Ave Sunday Farmers Market is open year round - even in Seattle's rainy weather - and it's held on Sundays which makes it easier for me to go than other markets I've lived by that were Saturdays. They have a great selection of locally grown and raised food and flowers and locally made products. It's a great place to meet friends, stroll around and then have lunch or drinks at a local restaurant on the Ave.

Its a market that I can visit all year around (altho produce is scarce in winter months they still come!) with great selections of food, crafts, music and good food. It's something I really look forward to! The neighborhood is very cool, too. (^o^)

I feel like I am at home whenever I go there. People are smiling, produce shining, delicious smells drifting, lively music playing. It's like a big neighborhood party! I never want to leave, even if the sun isn't shining that day.

Variety & location. Ballard's Farmer's Market is always a happy way to start a Sunday and few things are more beautiful than old Ballard on a still warm Autumn day.

Any reason to stroll on Ballard Ave is good. But close the street to vehicular traffic, add music, fresh fruits, veggies and honestly harvested proteins; wow! The offerings are consistently fresher, more varied and artfully presented in Ballard than at any other market I've visited.

There are several reasons I support the Ballard Farmers' Market:
(a) It's well laid-out. I only need to go up-and-down the row, and I've got everything I need. There are no crazy zig-zags and whatnot.
(b) I can get everything I need there. Flour, eggs, meat, veggies, fruit, cheese, ice cream, Kombucha, salmon, Architects. If it's possible to be there, it is there.
(c) It's really convenient to my house.

It has a spectrum of farms offering a full array of foods, and the local food vibe isn't overpowered by the crafts section. A wonderful community hub/event with music and a street full of happy people.

I have been to dozens of farmers markets in WA and HI. They're all great because they are helping the environment. But Ballards market sticks out with the most diversity not only in the vendors but also in the public who supports them

I support them because I lived in the Seattle area for 28 years and know the area. They have a great selection of fruits and vegetables, and do not use chemicals to grow their produce. I plan on moving back to the Seattle area in the near future and will be going to visit this market when I get back from Ohio.

We have been going to Ballard Farmer's Market for years-we ride our bikes from the top of capitol Hill, stop off at Cafe Moose for a wonderful authentic Mexican Breakfast, then hit the market...always look forward to hearing the "Tall Boys" and the "Atlas Stringband," also. Hopefully the Ballard Market is the future of America-returning to what is best about American culture. It's also the future of American Manufacturing in my mind: candles, home-made clothing, pottery, tools, art, etc. We may not have large scale manufacturing, so it doesn't fit into the American GDP calculation; but it sure is sustainable, life-reaffirming manufacturing-the only kind worth pursuing...

Why???? Because the whole experience is awesome...the foods are wonderfully fresh and reasonably priced, the vendors know their stuff and love to talk about food (as do I)and if somebody runs out of an item he or she will point you down the street to a fellow marketer to get what you need. Community, man...there's nothing better than that!

Great produce, friendly atmosphere and easy to get to. I find it difficult to remember all the different days and hours the other markets are open. It would be great to have a complete schedule of all markets. Now, If I need something on Thursday afternoon I just have to go to some store instead of a market.
