We have picked strawberries at Mitchell's berries for a few years with our 5 children. They are expensive but the strawberries are yummy and fun for kids. Last Friday, we went to Mitchell's to pick. There were 20+ cars in the parking lot--much more than I've ever seen--did they advertise this year or something? We came around 10AM and we were told that we wouldn't have fun picking that day because so many other people were already picking; and we were told not to bother coming after 9 am when we came a different day. I was quite frustrated because I had called the day before to ask hours and ensure strawberry availability and I was told to come 8-12; 10AM should have been perfect. I had 5 very disappointed little ones. They would have been happy just picking 1 strawberry each. Bottom line--It was a blessing in the end, because we ended up finding other much better places to pick strawberries, for less than half the price that Mitchell's charges.

Mitchell's Farm has great website that explains their process in full and lists their hours of operation. In addition to hand-picking your berries, you can opt to have them picked for you before you arrive; of course, this costs more. Their berries are wonderful! They make great pies.
