Tomatoes are its specialty. Later in the season, you can expect plenty of brassicas or cole crops, both common and exotic varieties. Some may have been picked within an hour of display. With no marketing, the stand enjoys brisk traffic gained mainly through word of mouth and repeat customers.
In my recent visit, the grounds were blanketed with pumpkins in a variety of shapes and sizes, some with vines still attached, most priced $3 to $5. I also saw customers carrying away tens of lbs. of tomatoes, priced no more than $1.00/lb., even heirlooms. Some appeared to be making their regular run for veggies.
I make the trek from Chicago, which can easily be a 2 hour drive each way. Produce quality and pricing make the trip worthwhile.
