I found Greengold Acres online while searching for an alternative of convenience stores' meat and eggs. I now weekly buy fresh eggs and meat for my family, it tastes a LOT differently from feedlot meat we had to eat when we moved here, the other thing is that even the color is different, I compared the ground beef from Cheryl and ground beef from Walmart and the difference was radical both in color and flavor. I went to visit her farm and it looks amazing - the animals are taken care of extremely well and look very healthy. I'm very glad to find her, so now I don't feel guilty and bad when I eat meat or poultry and I know I'm getting the right nutrition.

I found the Webbs' Greengold Acres while searching for meat vendors to invite to our Farmers' Market in Galesburg, and so I called Cheryl Webb on a whim. I need someone who can provide pastured meats for my own family, and a drive to Cheryl's place and then on to Heritage Farmers Market, seemed like a reasonable adventure for my fellow Market manager and myself.

I missed a sign while taking in the rolling hills surrounding Greengold, and had to call for cluing in on the right road, but the farm is not difficult to find. Cheryl and her husband were gracious and welcoming, gave us a quick tour, and sold me ground beef, whole chickens, and ground chicken, something just not available in Galesburg. And then Cheryl and my travel companion, Cordy, talked chickens and cows and eggs and land, while I stood drooling amid the river-fed 90 acres.

If I want townie chickens, I now know where to begin, and which breed(s) and coop details to look for. As for pasture-raised meat, the drive to the farm just west of Pekin is worth it, especially given that I have a freezer at home!
