As a Coop, People's provides an invaluable service to the inner SE community, and the farmer's market is just one of the many community building resources it supports.

People's Farmers Market has a fabulous set of farmers who come to it. The Farmers Market is diverse enough and you can learn from the vendors. People's Farmers Market is the best!

I chose to pick up my CSA share from Gee Creek Farm at Peoples this year instead of the huge downtown market because it's convenient to stop by after work. So glad I made this choice, because it's a wonderful experience just being there, and handy to stop in the store and pick up bulk items I need. Feels like stepping back in time and gives me hope for the future seeing young people committed to the values some of us old fogies have retained. Last Wednesday, the farmers were out in record heat and there was a big jug of iced lemonade, a water drip for cooling, and lovely music. Maybe not as many shoppers as usual, but obvious that the heat wasn't keeping a loyal core away. Count me among them from now on.

When it comes to being truly green the People's Co-Op building building takes the cake. It is made from cob, which is 100% eco-friendly material. It is also energy and water efficient complete with natural percolators, or bioswales, to keep polluted water out of rivers and streams in Oregon. The community there is also extremely warm and friendly making the People's Farmers Market a more-than-wonderful experience.

They are year round, all organic, and in the courtyard at People's Coop, so can do other food shopping all in the same trip to the market. Thanks.

People's is the best!!! The market is the only farmers market in Portland that is YEAR ROUND, and the only farmers market that is attached to the best independent neighborhood cooperative grocery store that is also an exclusively vegetarian store. People's coop members' benefits include profit sharing, free yoga classes, and lots of great programming for kids and adults. Plus their building uses rainwater catchment and is a sustainable cob building, and is beautiful. I just moved here from Chicago, and I love Portland and People's. My fiance works just a couple blocks from People's. Big smiles.

YEAR-ROUND local foods from small, family farms that are committed to their work, their community, and their land: it means customers who expect their farmers to be there (not just some random farm employee) in person, gossiping or griping, and vice versa, because we are all in it together. small, intimate, and lively, the market has music, large events like the annual summer street carnival and the fall harvest festival (pie-eating contests!), and even a juice and smoothie cart for those hot summer days. this market is, in fact, my social life.

I love this farmer's market because it gives me a chance to sell my produce without having to compete with large farms thta have lots of employees. I love the small farm atmosphere and the people who shop here are one-on-one with the farmers who grow the food. There is an awareness and a commitment to buying locally produced food.

I support People's farmer;s market because it has stayed true to it's mission, it's vision, the community for the 15 years it has been in the community. It supports small family farms, organic and truly sustainable agriculture, and the farmer's are empowered to be part of the over all running of the market. It's truly a neighborhood, local farmer's market, that has grown with the community, not on the community.

People's Market is THE spot for truly organic produce. None of that watered-down USDA organics. These are the small farmers. These are families supporting each other. The produce is of un-paralleled quality and vriety. And the market runs YEAR ROUND!

The people's Coop is not just a place to buy food, it is an example of what a locally-owned, community supported, environmentally friendly economy could and should be like.

People's is a wonderful cooperative that has been around for at least two decades. Their dedication to organics, sustainability, and community are to be admired. Years ago I worked as a working member cashier and I was thrilled when they started their farmer's market. It gets raves from Portlanders all over the city with fresh, delicious local offerings.
