Curious about the Beardsley Farm, I stopped by this summer to see it with my own eyes. It is a wonderful place, filled with growing vegetables, a greenhouse, bee boxes, a flock of ducks and chickens, and a butterfly garden--to name only a few highlights. I brought my 13-year-old daughter with me to volunteer during several return visits. Even though it was hot, she got caught up in the momentum of the work there--planting an alfalfa cover crop, building a sustainable-construction structure out of hay bales. We were also given ample vegetables as a reward for our work. I encourage anyone with the slightest interest in gardening or farming to contact the Beardsley Community Farm to see how you can be a part of the fun!
