Some of the individual merchants, especially Liberty Fish and the bakers, provide excellent food for your table. However, there just aren't enough local options to fill either Salzburg Square or the village green sumer market without the addition of expensive boutique items. This isn't California where glorious farmers' markets abound.
Buy a share or partial share from one of the coops that will have wonderful produce this summer and contact Liberty Fish for delivery of farm straight from the docks. Even though Amherst doesn't offer much, try to keep your food dollars flowing to community farmers and merchants. It pays in the long run with healthier food options for all.

I would hardly call this a farmers' market. They had a VERY limited selection of local produce (just corn when we visited) and frozen meat. The rest was kitschy home and body products and some wines (mostly not local). More of a pricey gift shop than a local farmers' market. I hope that the farmers market on Thursdays in the Village Common has more to offer. A big disappointment. If you are looking for local produce and goods try Lull Farms in Hollis.
