I really wanted to support this farm and invested in the meatbucks plan. I ordered a heritage turkey at Thanksgiving ($125); it was promised to be 12 lbs and turned out to be 9.1 lbs. But I persisted and ordered a heritage goose for Christmas ($125). It was promised at 10 lbs and was delivered at 5.1 lbs! In total I got 14.2 lbs of young bird (and that's a lot of bone) for $250. No apologies or even an acknowledgement from Kate Stillman that I had paid a lot for very, very little meat.
I have ordered meat in advance only to find at pick it up that it is not available. It is very difficult to plan with that level of unreliability. (Again, no apologies or acknowledgement of the inconvenience.)
In addition, the butchering is not done very well. The cuts of meat vary in thickness within a single piece, and this makes it impossible to cook a steak or a pork chop evenly.
I support local farmers. In this case I feel very used and disappointed.

If you are an omnivore, but are concerned with factory farmed meats mean to the environment, our health and the treatment of animals, you will appreciate what Kate and Aidan have to offer with the meat CSA. They are wonderful young family farmers and stewards of the land.
The meat tastes great, by far the best pork and lamb I have ever eaten! All the meat comes vacuum packed, labeled and frozen.
My only tiny complaint is that I wish there was more chicken...in 7 months, I have only had chicken in my half share once. That is not enough to deter me from renewing.
