this market has a warm neighborhood feel, and sells a good variety of eggs, dairy (GOAT MILK!!), and veggies...that alongside the meats, soaps, and prepared goods I don't buy so much, is overall awesome. Now I am pregnant I am especially careful with my source of foods, and feel esp. comfortabel with the goat milk folks. I really feel that I am supporting local farmers.

I believe in suppoting our local farmers and businesss. Furthermore, a sustainable future for our environment, health and our children. The variety at the Bayou City Farmers Market is superb. There is a plethora of produce and unique vendors with great exotic items. without the Bayou City Farmers MArket, my meals that I cook at home for myself, family and friends would not be so enjoyable. Thanks for the great selection, service and accomadations.

My passion is with my community of local growers and supporters. What they provide to Houston is food and love. Its easy to go to the supermarket and let it persuade your meals, yet it is more enriching to be able to create friendships and meals with your community.

Excellent standards, great selection of produce and crafts. The market has become a true part of the community, and it has been exciting to see it grow from a small market to supporting a couple of thousand shoppers any given Saturday. I go every Saturday morning, right at 8am (when they open).

The array and variety of colorful people you can meet, greet and interact with as you stroll the aisles is as diverse as the products items and services which are being sold. Everyone--patrons and vendors alike, comes to the Bayous City Farmer's Market with expectations of having fun while stocking up and sharing only the freshest and bestest produce, honey, eggs, cheeses, milks, homemade desserts, ice creams, eggs, plants, shimp, sea food, meats, poultry, flowers, nuts, breads, baked goods, jams, sellies, soaps, and scents which make their lives more favorful. Lingering over a cup of fresh brewed coffee while listening to the livest of live music or sitting back in a chair people watching-- this place IS where it is happeing in Houston!!! It puts personal back into personality and that diffently is what the Bayou City Farmer's Market has--that and Julia the spotted one.

The market is a wonderful teaching tool for my granddaughters. They especially enjoy Kid's Day and the animals. The five year old has learned how to plan eating at least 3-5 vegtables each day. She also knows which vegtables, fruits, and dairy products contain the essential vitamins she needs to grow a healty body and mind. Because this market is sponsered by the Urban Harvest Organization we are also helping school gardens develop across Houston. This child friendly market has taught her to appreciate a sense of community and she looks forward to visiting "the lady with the potatoes" every weekend. The samples tastes are also a big hit!

I enjoy the variety offerred in all the food groups at BCFM. I really like tasting some of the items that can be sampled that I know nothing about prior to the sample taste, and have often tried(lots of failed attempts) to make the item myself. I was country raised and to be able to taste truely fresh, farm raised produce, eggs, milk, etc. is not only a treat I look forward to; but it is also a trip down memory lane with every bite. I also enjoy the music when available and the people watching as I explore and shop.

The market is almost like a weekly festival celebrating the bounty of our local farmers and the diversity of people who populate our community. It's great to be with people who share the wisdom of feeding themselves and their souls with good food. Plus, the folks of Urban Harvest want other communities to gain from their knowledge! The more the merrier is true for vendors, customers, markets, music, plants, gardens, sun, rain, and wind! How can one not go to the market and smile? It's a pleasure to buy from the grower and be greeted as a friend.

They have the best vendors and the greatest fruits and veggies every week! They send out weekly emails letting us know who will be at the market that week, and what they will have available so I can plan my list and week of meals before I head over there. The vendors are fantastic! Very friendly and always willing to help with suggestions on how to cook things that I have never made before. They have unique vendors w/ desserts, dips, ice cream (homemade), a coffee vendor who is very popular and friendly. It is like going to a block party on Saturday morning. Friends meet up and have a cup of coffee while looking over what is available and giving each other suggestions on how to make something.

I was lucky enough to be involved with the opening of the market, and truly understand the grass root support and dedication needed to make the market work. The loyal buyers and local growers are truly in a partnership that benefits us all. One of the real important reasons to continue supporting the market is also the education about nutrition that may help us understand the joy of eating seasonally.
