One unusual feature of this CSA is an extremely attractive one for members: rather than receiving a preselected box of vegetables, members choose for themselves among a diverse array of organic produce. The freedom to choose has many benefits for many situations: having company over on Saturday and need twice the potatoes for your dish? kids having a carrot craze and want to live on them for the week? not a fan of celariac? intolerant of crucifers?

Members sign up for one of three share sizes, and may fill up their shares however they like. The ability to select among these sizes is another great feature of Mighty Food Farm, since many CSA's offer one size only. The small (5 items a week) is great for families who just want to try it out or who only eat a few vegetables, or for a single adult. Medium (10 items) is perfect to fill a small family's diet with fresh vegetables, and large (15 items) can accommodate a large family.

The produce is very high quality and includes pastured eggs (once you try them, you will never go back) and fresh herbs (which will help bring your cooking to a whole new level)! Also, if you have only eaten strawberries shipped from California... well, you've never eaten strawberries 'till you try the pick-your-own here!

My family of two adults and a small child have been eating from the medium share all year, and we will be signing up again for the next season. The share size was perfect for us - the produce makes up the base of our diet. For a family our size that isn't used to eating vegetables, we'd recommend they start with the small, and round out veggies at the farmer's market if need be - and then hopefully upgrade to a medium next year once you see how great fresh veggies make you feel :)

I joined Mighty Food Farm last year and just loved the food! There is tremendous variety and the food is abundant and fresh.

Lisa and Chuck allow members to choose from three size shares, at various price ranges. Members pick up their shares on three different days of the week at three different locations. They may participate through the summer season or through an extended fall/winter season.

Members are e-mailed a list of available fruits and vegetables each week. Members choose those they want, place an order and pick it up at the assigned location. Most other CSA's that I'm familiar with give each member the same amount of the same produce each week. I like the fact that I have a choice at Mighty Food Farm.
