This Farmers Market could be better. I believe it was last year that I walked through this farmers market. I think I have been spoiled with Wheaton's French Market and Naperville's Farmers Markets, both are great. Ottawa should really have more vendors and it seems like someone is just tossing this farmers market together. Hopefully it will be better this year.

I was hoping for more produce than was available. There seemed to be mostly baked goods, and not enough information on if they were all organic ingredients, or even local ingredients. It was more a bake sale than anything. I am hoping that as the season progresses, there will be more produce available, and that it will be marked as organic or chemical free. I also was hoping for eggs and meat. When I questioned several vendors about this, they said no one sells it there. One vendor told me that I'd be better off buying my meat at Kroger, which was surprising since I am trying to support local organic/pasture fed products.

There are sustainably raised meats & eggs available in the Ottawa area. Because we are concentrating on our CSA Cedar Valley Sustainable farm isn't able to be at the Ottawa Farmer's Market this year, but we are located just north of town. Check out our listing here on local harvest.

Maybe I was late but by 11am there one was farmer and he was putting his produce away. The only other booths setup were for crafts and baked goods.
