Right outside of my door. Great beef and Sausages. Tasty Fruit and Veggies. They take food stamps so that is even more awesome. Most importantly is my money is going to the residents of my state and its local organic and wholesome!

Fantastic barbeque ribs that I look forward to eating every week! Friendly neighborhood market, great food, grows bigger and tasier every year.. This market has helped revitalize the Stark Street business community that surrounds it and is very accessible to all. Absolutely yummy..

Wonderful market really brings some the best our local farmers have to offer right into this small but bustling neighborhood. Great cheeses, terrific locally roasted coffee, fantastic meats and sausages...what more could you ask for?

I am so very excited to have a farmers market in my neighborhood, on top of that it is a friendly and accessible farmers market. It's not too big and not too small. There is a great variety of goods from really nice, friendly sellers who seem to care about the world, the community and food.

Our local farmers' market is a great chance to "buy local" & "know your farmer." The produce and food vendors are great; the music adds to a sense of community. A chance to step outside and chat with neighbors is much needed in today's city life.

My neighborhood and it is a good place to shop 'cause I can walk to it. There needs to be more places people can just walk to. Purposeful excercise is the way to go. Lots of good groceries and nice people.

This wonderful little market, just a 3-minute walk from my home, is very well-managed, offers at least one new vender weeky, has everything from hot tamales and locally-roasted coffee to the highest quality organically-grown produce and fresh baked goods. And everyone is so friendly!

Sunday morning, the neighborhood is abuzz with energy. During my early morning walk to Mt. Tabor I see the vendors arrive and begin setting up at the base of the Mountain Â?then the volunteers show upÂ? many at the crack of dawn. Hard work and a long drive brought the farmers to Montavilla and yet the love in which they prepare for the day is as beautiful as the fresh produce and health vibrant farmers themselves.
At 10am the bell rings and you see a stream of walkers in the neighborhood similar to a line of ants with their fabric bags, baskets and wagons. (Rain or shine, remember, we are in Oregon) The regulars get their shopping done early, drop their heavy loads and return for the music and cooking demonstrations and an afternoon snackÂ?and of course the casual, friendly conversation with new friends and oldÂ?.this has quickly become the heart of our community.
Sunday afternoon, at home, IÂ?m cleaning vegetables, menu planning for the week, and taking in the array of colors and aroma of the veggies, fruit and occasional piece of artwork that I picked up at the market. This is the one evening for sure I will make a special dinner and since IÂ?m going through the effort we might as well invite friends and loved onesÂ?Then we come together and enjoy each other, wonderful food and a perfect summer evening.
This is why I love the Montavilla Farmers Market!

I was visiting Portland for the opening day of the market. What was best was that every vendor grows or makes the product they are selling. The market is easy to navigate, dogs are allowed, children are welcomed and entertained and it is a place for a neighborhood to see each other once a week and support the community.

Montavilla is a true neighborhood farmers' market. It has an incredible positive energy as community members gather each Sunday to shop, connect, eat, listen to music and hang out. All the vendors are fresh & local, supporting our local food economy. Montavilla is primarily volunteer-run, which speaks a lot to the commitment & energy in this neighborhood to make community-gathering spaces happen!
