I can buy fresh produce almost anywhere. The Hitching Lot is a central location in a well maintained facility. There are plenty of other activites in addition to just the sale of produce. These people know what they are doing -- and doing it better than anyone else!

On my recent visit to Coloumbus Miss. my sister in law invited me to visit the weekly famers market. We hade a sweet time. The local honey was a great find, priced just right.( YUMMY) I saw the biggest watermelon ever!!!!We took one home, not the biggest.I saw the most amazing blacked eyed susans. If you go get there early. Her in Fl. I only buy local produce. We must support oul local merchants.Living in a small town is a quality of life I want to pass on to my children. If I were there, The Hitching Lot Farmers Market, Columbus would be a weekly visit.I might even set up a table myself.Loving my honey. There is always plenty of vegetables available for sale. I don't have a place to grow vegetables and it is wonderful to have the market there so that I can serve my family fresh vegetables and buy extras to freeze for next winter. Thanks Hitching Lot Farmers Market.

It's a wonderful place where local artists can display their creations. The selection of produce and canned goods are wonderful. There is music and crafts for children. The Farmer's Market is a wonderful place to meet old friends and make some new ones.

Our Hitching Lot Farmers Market is fabulous, with fresh, just picked fruits and vegetables grown by our own local folks. Artisans in our community share creative talents through baked and canned goods, art, music, going green education, and other creative and gardening endeavors. The richness of this combination brings our people together as one community as we share comraderie with each other and the bounty produced by the labors of many creative hearts and productive hands. Everything about it is fun, fresh, inspiring, delicious, and a feast for the eyes and heart.

There are always wonderful fruits, vegetables, flowers, prepared foods , pottery, jewelry, crafts and friendly folks to offer suggestions for recipes and meal ideas. We also have folks playing their instruments and making beautiful music. The downtown atmosphere just adds to the friendliness and uniqueness of the market. We look forward to the market every week-end and knowing that we are getting fresh produce.

Since I was a young girl. I can remember getting up around five in the morning with my mother and grandmother. We wanted to arrive early to meet the farmers who would be the selling fresh corn, purple hull peas. Then we would go home and can these fresh veggies. Its a special part of my child hood memorie.

I love to eat! During the week when I peak in the fridge to nibble, the first things I grab are my organic produce from the Columbus Farmer's Market! All of the plants and Herbs I've purchased from the Market are Thriving, thanks to the advice & honesty of the vendors. But it's the community atmosphere that keeps it on my calender!

The farmers market in Columbus always has the best people with fresh produce. There is some organic candle makers with great stuff. Good coffee and its a great place on Saturday morning for us locals to get up early and meet with our neighbors. In a small town the farmers market is not only about food and farmers, its about community.

There is a special energy to this market which comes from commitment from so many people's enthusiasm and support. A good mix of seasoned and novice backyard growers. Knowing that everything found at The Hitching Lot Farmers' Market is locally grown assures customers that they're going home with their market baskets full of sweet goodness from neighborhood soil. A happy place that will put a smile on your face.

Because it makes our town pop on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday--it's more than food--it's people meeting and saying "howdy"--it really has done much to bring our community together--and the arts has really exploded--there is music and pottery and crafts and singing--what better way to start your day!!! thanks for asking--Brenda Caradine

Fresh food, grown no further than 50 miles away, music and coffee. Add to that visiting with your friends and neighbors, cooking demonstrations and projects for kids--it's the best way to spend a Saturday morning!

Our area does not offer a lot of fresh fruit and vegetable stands, nor a place that has all of it together. It not only provides families with this choice of fresh produce, but also brings the community together. I think that it's a fabulous place to support local farmers as well. I'm very proud of Columbus' Hitching Lot Farmer's Market. Makes me proud to be from this area. :)

Freshest home-grown foods in the area! For decades, my grandmother and great aunt went to the Hitching Lot to buy the quantities of fresh veggies needed for Sunday lunch.

It is an ideal way to practice "think globally, act locally". I enjoy the Hitching Lot Farmers Market because it is a feast for all of my senses: the wonderful music, awesome produce and canned goods, crafts, aroma of fresh brewed coffee, the laughter and conversation between the vendors and patrons, etc. Recently, an overnight houseguest brought me a lovely hostess basket filled with wonderful offerings from the fresh produce vendors at the market and then I received a thank you note on a wonderful hand painted card. What a delight!

The Hitching Lot Farmers Market is a great Sat. morning event. Hot coffee, food tasting, fried pies, fresh and organic produce, delicious baked goods, lovely crafts, entertainment, and good friends. What could be better? Too bad it can't continue year round.

The Hitching Lot Farmers market was ressurected from near death (4 or 5 vendors) to so many that the market has most every space filled! The market has organic growers, music, kids activities, cooking demos, special guest speakers (e.g.Felder Rushing), and a wonderful relationship with many other community groups (The Arts Cpuncil, Columbus Visitors Bureau, Garden Clubs, Master Gardeners, and more. It is a market you would expect to find in a much larger city. Quite simply, it's a marvelous market who would make $5000 go a long way!

The Hitching Lot is an excellent small-town farmers' market. There is a great variety of locally-grown produce and homemade foods/canned goods. There are also booths with pottery, soaps, etc. The atmosphere is very lively and friendly. But get there early, because the best stuff is gone fast!
