There is a great variety of local produce, prepared foods, and crafts to choose from and the prices can not be beat! There are also local musicians playing and crafts for kids. I look forward to going every week.

I like being able to purchase fresh fruits & vegetables directly from the growers and knowing the source of the food I eat. It looks and tastes better than the food in the stores. I talk to the growers and learn from them. I usually see friends when I am shopping and it is fun. There is music and food and comaraderie.

I support the IC Farmer's Market for two primary reasons. First, great produce, flowers, plants, crafts, and food. Second, and perhaps more important, is that as I stroll around the Market I have such a strong sense of pride in my community and all the larger problems of the world seem to be, at least temporarily, at bay!

Because I care....and I care about supporting local in all realms possible. I have a small restaurant in the IC area, and I count on the farmers and Farmers Market to supply my place with top-notch local ingredients of all sorts. The FM is also a great place to be social, meet new friends, learn something new, and support the community.

A fantastic market--& unlike some farmers' markets, everything there is made or grown by the vendors, so you're really supporting the local economy when you shop there!

Got to visit the farmers market in IC on a recent visit - it was so impressive with lush produce, delectable baked goods, and an incredible assortment. Wish the one in my town was as good!

Iowa City's Farmers Market encapsulates what a lot of people love about Iowa City in the first place. It's very down-home Iowa with lots of fresh and organic produce, lots of families and students, Mennonites rubbing elbows with hippies. There's also really good music and a lot of beautiful crafts. It's a social event based around fun, responsible grocery shopping!

Iowa City winters are brutal and dreary. When summer rolls around, the Farmer's Market is a symbol that winter is finally over. Add to that lovely people, great home-grown or homemade foods, arts, crafts, and music, and you have something guaranteed to start my Saturday morning off well.

There is an incredible variety of vendors with huge diversity of products.
Many vendors are certified organic or non-certified organic and sustainable.

It enables me to buy local and organic vegetables and fruits (there is also organic meat but I don't eat meat). And it introduces me to vegetables, especially varieties of greens, I wouldn't think of on my own. This together with prepared organic foods to eat breakfast on Saturday or dinner on Wednesday and listen to good old time music in the park with friends. It's always a blow when the open market season is over in the fall.

I love our farmers market for so many reasons; fresh organicaly grown food, flowers/plants/herbs galore, fresh bakes goods, freshly made salsas, fair trade coffee, and of course seeing all your friends. What could be better than our market?

After an extended absence from IC, it's spaciousness was a welcome relief from the cramped confines of the Berkeley, Ca. offerings. The pace and prices were uplifting to this one's spirit, as well as, wallet; the Amish breads were especially good.

I grew up on a small farm in Northeast Iowa where we raised a lot of our own food. I dont like corporate agriculture, I love fresh, local grown foods like we had on our farm, and I like my money to go to the community.

I love the fresh, delicious products at the Iowa City Farmers Market because I believe it is important to support local farmers. There is always lots of fresh, often organic produce, but there is also so much more, including a smorgasbord of baked goods, fresh meats, hand-made soaps, jams, honey, plants, flowers, herbs, pet treats, salsa, kettle corn, and hot spring rolls to munch on while I peruse the stalls. Our farmers market also features live music by local musicians. It's always a good time to shop at the Farmers Market.

Our entire city come out to support local farmers and vendors. Even if people not in the mood to buy anything, they continuously show up each week to walk around with their friends, as our farmer's market is a really friendly and warm environment. There's often free live entertainment, locally grown produce, fresh baked goods by the neighboring Amish community, and little "start-up" initiatives like my juice bar and coffee stand which my roommate and I have begun... Delicious, healthy, and pretty cheap too!
