Run by a local couple who are both 'college educated' farmers this lovely farm is on the grounds of a large colonial times reconstruction which operates year round.

Of interest here, this is a modern day Organic farm that, though on the grounds of the 'restoration', uses 'real' tractors w'planters & seeders etc. Likely the BEST CSA on Long island for a family looking to stay Organic it is a bigger share well worth the cost if one is feeding more than a couple. They do 1/2 shares where you p/u every other week also if a full share is too much! Also available is what they call a 'Shopper's Share' where you get up to $400 worth of products by paying at beginning of season up to %15 less! They not only have just about any Veg., Herb & Fruit that grows in Region 7/8 but fresh chickens & eggs and flowers also!

Their Farmer's Stand, open this last year 3 times a week, less often very early & late in season has most of above & the FRESHEST oysters you will ever have in the Spring!

Please do check their website as they often have special events w'local crafts people, music, open house etc. that are not mentioned in 'Local Harvest' update of events in the area.

I moved to the Island in July and quickly made the rounds looking for a farm stand or farmer's market that had both variety and quality enough to take care of my produce needs. Although the farm stand is not grouped with other farm stands (like a farmer's market) Restoration is my chosen destination for Nassau county! Caroline and Dan often man the stand themselves, are extremely knowledgeable, and wonderfully happy and helpful people. More importantly, their farm stand has a wide variety of produce, usually 10-15 different items, unlike other farm stands that may only specialize in 5 things. And, they farm it here it Nassau County in Old Bethpage; it is not shipped in from upstate, like I have seen in other farmer's markets. Highly recommend.

Was going to comment on these lovely people, but I couldn't have said it better than you did some years ago. I will just update that ALL this is still true AND they are both SO helpful w'your "gardening woes" offering advice and pretty much all the "Black Gold" you can tote in your car!!!

My 6-year-old son and I happened upon the farmstand in the parking lot of the Old Bethpage Village Restoration one afternoon as the vendors were beginning to pack up. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of veggies and fruits and was also overwhelmed at the friendliness of the people -- they were obviously finished for the day, yet they greeted us with wide smiles and offered information about all their produce. They even unpacked crates of eggplant for us so my son could choose 'the perfect one.' What a remarkable place. We'll be sure to visit again next season. (By the way, the heirloom tomatoes were firm and plump and quite sweet! The eggplant was delicious!! Can't wait to taste more!)
