Wow! Great web page. I am in the process of setting up a small family farm here in Texas. Looking at web pages to get some ideas for our own page. I saw a post of yours on homesteadhogs and thought you had good insight into things. We are planning to have a very small number of Red Wattle Hogs, Dexter cattle, and some good egg producers for family and maybe see about a farmers market in the distant future. Your web page design both look and feel is something I would like to fashion a web page after way in the future. Thanks for posting your thoughts on homesteadhogs so I could find you.

Where to get a chicken carcass for chicken broth, the base for so many recipes, soups, of course, but other dishes as well ? Not being a big meat eater, I was delighted to find that the Haskins Family Farm stand at Fresh Farm Market sells them. Louise B. Foggy Bottom resident

In addition to the fresh eggs and jerked turkey, you get friendly, helpful advice from the Haskins. For example, I wanted eggs but worried about cholesterol: " how about extra-small eggs?" I wanted to enrich my wysteria organically: "just be careful with the hen manure: it is so high in nitrogen that it can burn plants." Louise B, Foggy Bottom resident

I contacted one of your members to inquire about a farm visit for my extended family > during a recent visit to Virginia. Robert Haskins of the Haskins Family Farm in Middletown, > VA quickly responded to me and we arranged a visit in late June. He and his wife > Mary were most hospitable and pleasant; we visited baby chicks, young pigs, older > pigs, chickens, turkeys, gathered eggs, and were treated to a tractor/trailer ride. > My four grandchildren had a wonderful visit and learned about where food comes from > and the work that goes into the production of food that is good for us. I cannot > say enough kind things about Robert and Mary Haskins and their generous spirit. They > are very hard workers, and they seem to love what they are accomplishing. Paige Word > and family.
