I was amazed to find this great store/restaurant in a small town! They sell beautiful organic produce which you have the option of pre-ordering exactly what and how much you want, or buying off the shelf when you arrive. They also have a great selection of baked goods available for purchase and/or pre-order.

I also had lunch while I was there. They do a "soup" lunch on Wednesday and Thursday, and a full lunch on Fridays. The choices are vegan and are wonderful. I am not vegetarian but I will definitely look forward to eating there again in the near future. Every meal includes the entree, bread (homemade whole wheat or cornbread), a side dish, a beautiful salad, and your beverage. The menu is listed on their website - there is very good variety. I had the hummus sandwiches (SO good), creole eggplant, cornbread, a gorgeous multi-colored salad, and kombuchu to drink (teas and filtered water also available).

The one thing I would recommend is checking out their web-site and looking at the things that you can pre-order by midnight on Wednesday for pick-up on Friday. I didn't do that (first time in) and there were a couple of baked goods I would have liked to purchase that weren't available because no one had ordered them that week. Also a couple of the produce items I wanted had already sold out. The pre-orders are boxed and waiting for pickup which is a really nice service.

If your lunch time is not limited to only an hour, then make it a point to drop by Union Street Market one Friday afternoon. The meals, the atmosphere and especially the company are all SO wholesome and nourishing for the body, soul & spirit ! There are very few places left in my world to go for good food and good fellowship all at the same place. It's like going home every time I walk through their door! You'll be so glad you took the time to sit down to a meal cooked lovingly (not thrown together) with thoughts of your health in mind. And when you leave, you'll feel like you've met new family members. Keep up the good work Robbie & Coleman.

I go to Union Street at least once a week to get veggies. I cook my meals from scratch (no boxed food for me, thanks). You've never cooked real food until you have fresh organic produce to work with. However, this place offers much, much more than just veggies! They've realized most people are not like me and don't have time to cook, but still want wonderful organic food. They make waffles, all kinds of bread, and seed cookies (i think that's what they're called - once you get past the "I'm not a bird" thought and try one, they'll be a new favorite).

Many of the things they offer for their Friday lunches can also be picked up on Friday with your order - which has to be placed by Wednesday.Union Street offers a vegan lunch on Fridays, I go as often as I can.

They offer four or five combinations for your meal to choose from, ranging from peanut butter tofu (which is my favorite) and roasted rosemary vegetables (another favorite) to soups, portobello burgers on fresh made whole-wheat buns (my husband's favorite) and sandwiches. Every meal comes with a fresh mixed salad that is simply sublime. I could eat one of those twice a day.

Of course, I have to add how much I love the people who own and work there. They are becoming very dear to me and I'm so thrilled to have like-minded people in our little town.
