I was there in August 2008 and was a little disappointed. I've been to many farmers market all over Indiana and this was by far the smallest. There were maybe 7 stands but all sold pretty much the same thing tomatoes, bell peppers and standard cucumbers. I was really hoping to find heirloom vegetables, melons, kale or spinach. I did enjoy the fact there was a young lady selling "fresh" bread and gentlemen selling freshly butchered lamb and beef. I will go back this year, I really do hope they have more of a variety this time around.

PS I'd kill to have a market where I could get freshly butchered lamb and beef!!! What a treasure!

Sorry you were disappointed at the number of farmers. We need to remember that many farmers' markets will be small when they first start up. The farmer is not going to flock to every market until he can know it will be supported...there are so many markets proven and established and that farmer you are looking for probably has a contract to attend the established market. Also where does he get the help to try out every market while he honors a previous committment? Please keep going back and you will be surprised how that "small" market will grow. For instance I used to attend 50 years ago a farmers' market in Kenosha, Wisconsin. That market now draws like 50, 60 farmers plus there are 3 or 4 other markets in the same town of only 60,000. Kenosha and surrounding areas support their markets, so keep attending.
